Abstract
|
|
|
A statistical survey of malignant neoplasms among Chonnam inhabitants collected files of surgical biopsy examined at Department of Pathology during the recent five years starting from January, 1971 to December, 1975 was made with following results:
1. The total number of specimens surveyed in this study was 4862, among which malignant tumors amounted to 1231 (26.3%). The mean age of malignant tumors was 48.8 years and the sex ratio of male to female was1.7:1.
2. Anatomical locations of malignant tumors in order of frequency were as, follows: stomach (29.0%), liver (9.3%), uterus (9.0%), lung`& bronchi (5.6%), colon & rectum (4.8%), etc. Carcinoma of stomach ranked the highest frequency in both male and female.
3. Histological types of carcinomas in order of frequency were as follows, adenocarcinoma (60.4%), squamous cell carcinoma (23.2%), liver cell Carcinoma (9.6%), undifferentiated carcinoma (4.2%), etc.
